He lives.... I love to GM, just love to play.
I am, as always, looking forward to bringing Don Carlos back to the table.... and hopefully after the little light reading we left you, the WFRP game that is lumming on the edge.
Most of all get well, so we can mess with your mind and hear that manic laughter and see you banging your head on the table when you realise there is more tangents than you geared up for.
If you keep your head while all around are loosing theirs..... you are the one carrying an axe.

... as long as you (or the other players) don't ever again say anything like "the 'Lucky Lady' has just been rammed by a large pinnace full of angry seamen" or whatever nautical term it was that reduced me to tears for about 45 minutes!

I went to see my surgeon last night. Things did not go as I'd hoped.
The Crohns has come back. I have two parts of my lower intestines that have narrowed, hence the occasional "bad day" when food get stuck in them.
Secondly, my intestines are in such a state that the surgeon will not know if he can reverse the bag until he has opened me up and had a look. However, in doing so, he may cause even more damage and leave me in a worse condition than I am now. There is no way of knowing what will happen until I'm opened up.
I am provisionally booked in for surgery in mid January 2010, unless any emergencies come in that day (can't complain about that, I've been an emergency twice)
He did offer me the choice to stay as I am, but as I'm seriously restricted in what I can do with this thing, I said I'd rather risk the surgery. I'll be in the same hospital and hopefully the same ward (well with the same nursing staff, but they've moved actual wards!)
So basically I have no idea how long I'll be in hospital, recovering or when I'll be back at club. Until I'm opened up and the surgeon sees whatstate I'm in. no one quite knows what will happen.
So I'll be in on the 20th to present the quiz, but after that, who knows......

Tiddy;
Sounds grim. mate. As someone who has a brother with a very similar condition and as a survivor of serious surgery on three occasions myself, I truly sympathise.
All you can do is take the best advice available about how to get yourself as strong and fit as you can beforehand, to maximise the chances of a good outcome.
If there's anything I can do tp help, let me know.
Best Wishes, mate and keep fighting.
Lewis.

Morning All
Just a quick note to say Cheerio for now. If all goes well I won't be on the boards for quite a while as...
a) I hope to go into hospital on Monday (11 Jan) and my operation should be the same day!
When I come out I'll be at my parents for a month at least
c) My PC blew up on Christmas Eve, so even when I'm back home, it'll be a while before I'm online!!!! (I'm writing this at work and getting evil looks from the bloke next to me!!)
I will keep Gez and Tom informed of how things are (or my parents will!) and if the result was good or bad. Hopefully sometime next week I'll have an idea of when I will be back on a Sunday night.
All the best folks, keep those dice rolling and I'll see you sometime in the future.
May the Magic be friendly and the Monsters Benign!
Tiddy.

Boss..... I am fine thanks, oh you mean Tiddy, Tiddy is a committee member but I am the Boss!!!
Tiddy arrived home yesterday, tired but in good spirits, he is taking it easy and hopefully I will pop over and see him soon as he has a very nice PS3 that needs my attention. lol.
Other than being a little bored he is on the mend and is on course to resume normal life around March. (If he wants to fight me for the god slot he is welcome to try then.)

I saw Mr T last night and he surpised us all on.
1: How well he looks - never listen to his properganda when he says he's at death door.
2: By turning up at Tom's.
3: Being Cheerful.
I gave him all your best, and after he gets a new computer he will pop on here and tell you himself.

And Hi to you too Rich ! Hope you haven't succumbed to the overwhelming female hordes down there (wife, daughter, sister-in-law and two neices!! Jeez, no man should have to cope with that!!!)
Anyway, for those of you not there on Sunday when I popped in, this is how things went.
I arrived at the hospital at 8.01am, just one minute late.......only to be told I had been "beeped" twice and they were waiting for me in the operating theatre. Bit of a surprise as I had been told I was third on the days list!! Was wheeled down at 2.30pm, then had to wait another hour for them to finish with the poor girl in front of me!!
Anyway, apparently the operation went far better than the sureon had hoped for! However, when I asked him when the swelling on the left side of my stomach would go down, I was told it wasn't swelling, it was a hernia! A hernia the size of a cricket ball!! TEN MONTHS I've been in and out of hospital and that's the first time anyone mentioned a hernia to me!!!
Anyway, without going into the details of trapped wind and then an arse explosion on the scale of Hiroshima, I was discharged on the Friday. When I asked about getting rid of the hernia, I was told it would require ANOTHER major op and the chances were I'd have more ops with my Crohns anyway, so don't have ops I don't need.
Marvellous!!
I spent the next two weeks at my parents, before getting bored and came home last Monday. I'm hoping to go back to work next week (I'm on half pay so can't just laze around at home!!)
So I now have a wound scar down my stomach 6 inches long, by 3 inches across (again, you could hide a cricket ball in it!), two smaller scars on the right side of my stomach and a hernia on my left side!
I'll never pull again!!!! I can breath in and only half my stomach moves!!!
Anyway, I'll be poppping on for a few weeks, until I feel strong enough to cope with you lot for four hours!!!
Tiddy is no longer........call me SCARBELLY!!!!
BTW, when I was regaining conciousness, my parents asked how I felt. Despite being well doped, I am quite chuffed that my reply was....
"Would you please welcome Mr & Mrs Bennett my stomach hurts, and their son, Gordon Bennett my stomach hurts!!!!"
My Dad thought I had gone round the twist!!! Luckily my Mom had heard the end of I'm Sorry I haven;t A Clue once or twice
